Prominent ear surgery process
I do pre-operative examination and planning for my patients who come to me with this problem. I show my patients how the ear appearance will be in front of the mirror.
Do the before-after photos help the person?
Of course it does. Because the operation of the previous patients will be similar to the operation to be performed on you. This will give you specific information about the result. I help my patients who will have the procedure by showing the before and after photos of my consenting patients.
The post-examination process on the photos
After this examination and planning, we decide how much correction we will make with my patient. I inform my patients about the amount of correction.
How long does prominent ear surgery take?
The operation is an operation that takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, is not very difficult, has high patient satisfaction, and can be performed without requiring a high degree of anesthesia. It is a surgical procedure that I frequently perform and recommend.
What technique is used in this operation?
There are many techniques determined for prominent ear aesthetics (otoplasty surgery), and every plastic surgeon uses a technique in which they feel safe and comfortable.
The ear roughly creates an open image from 3 regions as upper, middle and lower. Surgery should be planned according to the patient’s ear opening condition.
As a result, the ear structure of each patient differs according to the face, and I show minor modifications in the technique for each patient.
Causes of prominent ears?
The reason why the ear is scooped is congenital. Each individual’s ear structure and ear-head-face ratio are different. Therefore, the surgical technique varies for each patient. For some patients, the upper part of the ear needs to be tilted a lot, while for another patient, the lower part is a priority problem and requires more correction.
Prominent ear surgery in children?
This operation is not performed in children before the age of 4 years. Ear development is completed at the age of 4, regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl. For this reason, I generally recommend surgery at the age of 6 and beyond.
