Mons (Lift / Lipo)

Monsplasty (Mons Pubis Aesthetics)
It is a genital aesthetic operation, also known as mons pubis stretching, mons pubis surgery, pubic lift, venus hill surgery or puboplasty. It is the process of removing the sagging skin and fat in the hairy triangle area on the pubis bone.

This area may have an unaesthetic appearance due to sagging of the skin after weight gain or rapid weight loss. With the Monsplasty operation, this area can be tightened and a more aesthetic appearance can be achieved.

Where is the mons pubis?
The area known as the mons pubis or the hill of venus is the triangular area covered with visceral fat and hairy skin, surrounded by the pubic structures on the sides, the operating clitoris, the pubic folds on the sides. While it is more prominent in women, the mons pubis is located just above the genital system in men.

What does the mons pubis do?
The mons pubis prevents pain by acting as a kind of pillow that covers the pubic bone during sexual intercourse. In addition, chemicals called pheromones secreted by the sebaceous glands play a role in sexual attraction.

Why does the mons pubis swell?
Painful, reddened, localized swellings with temperature increase in the mons pubis region indicate inflamed abscesses in the vulva. Some of these may be due to hair follicle inflammation (furuncle).

Swellings without pain, redness and temperature increase are lipoma, sebaceous cyst, etc. There may be subcutaneous masses.

Why is the mons pubis large?
Usually the mons pubis becomes larger due to weight gain. In addition, sagging and deformity can be seen in this region after cesarean-like surgeries. The skin structure of the patient also plays a role in this. Aging and hormonal changes also affect this area. In older skin, it is more difficult to recover sagging after weight gain.

When weight is gained, fat accumulates in this area and the skin on it is stretched. The more weight is gained, the more the skin is stretched. If too much weight is lost afterwards, the fat under the skin melts and the loosened area on the skin is observed as an excess and sagging.

Especially in short-term weight gain and young skin, the skin can be restored and tightened as skin elasticity is better. However, the longer one stays overweight and the older the skin, the more genetic factors affect the skin, the more it may not return to its former firmness and sag.

Other causes of sagging of the mons pubis:

After the cesarean section, the sutures may be pulled inwards while they heal and the surrounding tissues may appear drooping.
Estrogen hormone can cause excess fat storage in the mons pubis area.
Genetically, some people may be able to store more fat around the mons pubis.
How do mons pubis fat melt?
Fat in this area can generally be reduced to some extent by weight loss and exercise. However, liposuction or mons pubis aesthetic surgery may be necessary in patients with ongoing regional lubrication and sagging, depending on the patient’s examination.
