Things to Know About Hair Transplantation
A Hair Transplantation Operation includes the Removal of Hair Roots, the Collection of Hair Roots, the Root Canal Opening for the Area where the Hair Roots will be Transplanted, and the Transplantation of Hair Roots.
Today, there are three types of hair transplant extraction methods known as FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction – Follicular Unit Extraction) and manual.
In the method known as FUT, or Follicular Unit Transplantation, a band of hair is first removed from the nape. Then, the donors separated into roots are transferred to the area where the planting will be made. In this method, which is older than the FUE method, a scar may remain in an area where the hair follicle is taken, and a temporary numbness and loss of sensation may occur in this area. In order to eliminate the regional strip scar marks formed by the FUT technique, nanofat is applied to those areas and the tissues are activated, and hair transplantation can be performed in those areas with the FUE method in a separate session. In addition, the hair tattoo, called Hair Pigmentation, and the hair pigmentation process can also cover the strip marks formed as a result of the FUT process.
With the development of technology and the more widespread use of the FUE method, the FUT method has become a practice that is not recommended and preferred much by professional surgeons.
With the Manual Hair Removal Technique performed by professional surgeons, max. 2,000 grafts (hair follicles) can be taken, and patients with a large area can be transplanted manually in 2-3 sessions. This method, which is more difficult than the FUE hair transplant technique, is used more often than the FUT method in the market, and it is applied in fewer cases than the FUE method.
Today, the most preferred and most effective method in hair transplant operations is known as FUE, or Follicular Unit Extraction. The hair follicles (graft) in the donor (healthy hair area) area are taken one by one, not as a block, unlike the FUT method, and transplanted into the area to be transplanted one by one. Millimetric instruments are used while performing these operations.
How to do hair transplantation?
Slit Method, Sapphire Method and Percutaneous Technique used in hair transplantation are among the preferred hair transplantation canal methods according to the frequency of the hair transplantation area of the patients.
In the slit canal method, razors and pink-tipped needles / injectors from the percutaneous canal technique are cut with handles in appropriate sizes according to the patient’s planting area, while in the sapphire canal method, diamond tips are used to perform the canal operation. The technique to be used in the root canal method varies according to the patient’s hair follicle, the extraction site, the number and type of grafts (hair follicles).
With the DHI Method / Choi Pen technique, which is the most preferred method of patients who want to have their long hair transplanted without cutting their hair, the channel can be opened and the transplant can be performed at the same time.
As in every medical operation, it is recommended that hair transplantation be done in a hospital environment by choosing specialist doctors, professional nurses and anesthetists, and to be done in Health facilities approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. Performing your operations in institutions approved by the Ministry of Health will reduce your risk of complications and ensure that you stay away from life-threatening environments.
